The National Institute on Ageing (NIA) leads a series of signature initiatives that bring together research, policy and practice to improve ageing in Canada. These initiatives focus on key areas such as retirement income security, healthy ageing, long-term care, social well-being and health care. Through evidence-based research, partnerships and public engagement, the NIA works to drive innovation and create solutions that support older Canadians, their caregivers and the systems that serve them.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n

The National Institute on Ageing’s Pension Centre of Excellence (PCE) is a non-partisan, research-informed and action-oriented knowledge exchange platform dedicated to improving the retirement financial security of Canadians.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n

The NIA\u2019s new public education campaign highlights the power of early action, connection and real-life lived experience in reshaping how we think and act about dementia. Backed by research and supported by the Slaight Family Foundation, our resources\u2014including videos, infographics and expert-backed tips\u2014offer practical, hopeful ways Canadians can reduce their risk and support others.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n

Slaight Family Foundation Dementia Initiative<\/h5>\n
\n

The <\/span>Slaight<\/span> Family Dementia Initiative<\/span> supports six Canadian organizations in enhancing dementia prevention, compassionate care and research. <\/span><\/p>\n

This investment comes at a critical time, as researchers project that by 2030 nearly 1 million people in Canada will be living with dementia.<\/span><\/p>\n

My COVID-19 Visit Risk<\/h5>\n

The myCOVID19VisitRisk Decision Aid and Calculator provides individuals with a mechanism to assess their level of risk (acquiring and\/or death) from COVID-19. Based on the chosen criteria such as age, sex, and pre-existing health conditions, and visit considerations, a risk category of low, moderate, high, or very high will be given. General expert-informed public health guidance on how to visit more safely with others is accompanied with all risk assessment results.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n

National Seniors Strategy<\/h5>\n
\n

The National Institute on Ageing\u2019s National Seniors Strategy is a roadmap for governments, organizations and communities to better support Canada\u2019s ageing population. It provides evidence-based recommendations to improve health care, enhance financial security, strengthen social connections and create age-friendly communities, ensuring older Canadians can age with dignity, independence and quality of life.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n
